In the past, the rugs were often dusted in the yard, for which a metal stand was set up. Dusting could be done with a carpet beater, which created a puffing sound. This was a commonly heard sound in my childhood. Nowadays, these stands can still be found, and occasionally, we can witness the ritual of dusting if we happen to be in the right place at the right time.
